Well... this has been quite a weekend... On Friday morning I woke up with a swollen foot. I didn't think too much of it, due to the fact that I've been walking 5 miles a day in a pair of shoes that are too big for my feet. BUT Saturday morning I woke up unable to walk farther than to the sofa. My right foot and calf were twice the size they should be... Normally my toes don't look like little sausages! One of my housemates ran next door to our sweetheart of a neighbour who took a look at my foot... apparently I was bit or stung by some sort of insect...
I ended up either in bed or on the sofa all weekend with a sausage leg covered in ice and propped up on a billion pillows. Praying for a miracle I called in sick to the Events crew on Sunday... I figured I'd end up being a burden more than anything.
So, I didn't see anyone but my housemates (and only occasionally) all weekend - resulting in feeling the tiniest bit homesick... maybe it wasn't homesickness as much as spring fever in the middle of autumn...
I hate (when I have to) keep myself entertained... I watched so many movies it's not even funny - but I did have a great time Skyping my family and friends... It also gave me a fantastic opportunity to spend some quality time with Jesus!
Since the swelling didn't go down (in fact, it got worse) over the weekend, I decided to skip my one class on Monday, and go to the doctor along with my housemate Clarissa who has pinkeye (yuck!). It turns out that I had a allergic reaction to the bite/sting, and my skin is infected. So, now I'm on 2 meds: an antibiotic which will help with the infection and an antihistamine which is going to help bring the inflammation around the 'injection site' down.
I am now sitting on my bed in lots of pain because of the walk to and from the doctors... but I thought I would share this with you because we are only 3 days away from Colour Conference #1, and 6 days away from the most amazing album recording in the history of Hillsong Church. Satan is terrified of what these 2 events are going to do to the local and international Church!
Proof they are going to be epic:

The only way I am going to survive the next 2 weeks are with the help of:
1. Jesus Christ
2. Sleep
3. Pain medication
We serve a great God...
Be blessed

Wow... it's been awhile since I've written my last blog... I do apologize!
Life has been slightly crazy... My days are packed full of classes, work at church, and trying to fit in time to socialize.
So, I'll give you a little update of what life has been like for me:
I've been in class for the past 2 months with 20 second semester students who are all W&CA, the majority of which are vocal students. I am the only female guitarist in my class, and 1 of the 2 that were in this year's intake. So, needless to say, I am used often!

My Mondays consist of a 3 1/2 hour class on Musicianship, which is mainly training us in our craft... which starts at 8.15am... not too bad, but it is when you have to walk 3 miles to class!

My Tuesday classes start at the bright and early hour of 8am with a 2 1/2 hour Old Testament lecture, followed by another Musicianship class. Every 2 weeks, I have had afternoon meetings with a few of the pastors and my boss preparing for the Colour Your World Conference (which is only 1 WEEK AWAY!!)... we are planning and performing a comedy act for the women... so the prep is filling my days that I am suppose to have time off!

Wednesdays are my really long days... Starting at 8.30, and finally getting out of class at 4.30... Songwriting which is most often taught by Dave Andrews one of the studio musicians here, but we have had Ray Badham, and Mia Fieldes guest teach over the past few weeks. Following our weekly Chapel service I have a 3 hour Personal Leadership lecture with our campus's principal Lee Burns, and to round out the day I have an Old Testament class (where we hash our what we learned in our pervious OT class)

Thursdays we are required to work and attend the Sisterhood meetings (our women's ministry), and then I've got a 3 hour Personal Leadership and Communication in Ministry class in the afternoon.

Fridays and Saturdays usually consist of me trying to catch up on the sleep I've missed throughout the week and working on assignments...

Sundays for me start with a brisk walk to church at 6.30am, working our 8.45 service with the Events crew, attending the 10.45 service, taking a quick nap, and getting back to church at 4.30 for the 6.00 evening service.
Now the next 2 weeks are going to be even more insane!
Colour training starts one week from today... Conference 1 is from the 26th through the 28th, Album recording (!!!!) is on on 29th, and Conference 2 is from the 30th through the 1st... thank goodness we've got both weeks off of school...

Well, I guess I shall leave you with a summary of my life so far in a collage of pictures.
Enjoy...

I am going to share with you something that happened to me the other day...
So, Sunday night after a very long day at church, a group of gals and I went to the Outback for a late dinner (I know... we went to the Outback...);
we had to wait for 15 minutes to get a table.
Ok, we are super hungry at this point... finally we ask (ASK) for our waitress...
20 minutes later...
Now, we finally order, Tash and I ordered soup and Anna ordered a burger...
30 minutes later we get our soup....
We finish our soup... still waiting on the burger...
20 minutes later the burger comes... RAW!!
We are not happy... another waiter comes by, we stop him... he says "Eww, gross!" (exactly what we were thinking), takes the burger, gets us a new one... which is cold...
Being avid Outbackers we are usually happy with the service... not today!
Tash makes our waitress cry... not on purpose...
We get half our meal free... we'll be back...
We love you Outback... we just don't like you right now...

I've been here in Oz almost 5 weeks... and it feels like 5 months..
This past week I found out what my areas of service in the church were (as apart of college, we are required to be involved with 2 weekend services (church life), and 1 church ministry a week (fieldwork)... ) and I'm still in shock...
Let me explain:
So, I am here studying Worship and Creative Arts (W&CA)... and have been really debating, and wrestling with God about possibly changing my majour to Pastoral Leadership with a pathway of Events. After lots of prayer, God confirmed that I'm here and doing what He's got planned.
Well, when it comes to church life and fieldwork, the college places you in an area that goes along with your majour (ex. W&CA=choir, Pastoral youth=youth etc.)... So, I'm expecting to be placed in choir or an extension service for my church life, and I was shocked when I found out that I was placed in... EVENTS!! I'm the only W&CA student doing events... all of the other kids doing Events are Pastoral Events students. THEN I find out that my fieldwork is none other that... Creative Events!!
For those of you who don't know, my passion is behind-the-scenes work. My Events team makes sure the church services on the weekend go smoothly; we do everything from making sure the communion servers are there (and if they aren't we do communion!) to personally escorting the pastors and staff to their seats. Creative Events on the other hand, is the team that (pretty much) RUNS the special events in the church... My next big events: The Colour Conference, Album recording (!!!!!), and Hillsong Conference.
I'm still in the clouds! God is such a provider... I'm where I'm suppose to be, and now doing what's been in my heart for so long!

Well, I just had to share that... I'm off to an all girls Valentine's Day party... I've got to be at church at 7 tomorrow morning... that means leaving at 6.30!
But I love it!
Be blessed, and have a fantastic Valentine's Day

Well... I made it! Thanks to all of you who prayed for my journey from Denver to LA. I made my flight... barely! We arrived 5 minutes before the LA/Sydney flight was to leave... I finally made it on the place 15 minutes later... Thank the Lord that someone mentioned to the flight attendants that I was on my way... they were closing the door as I reached the plane.
I arrived at 7.30 in the morning local time, and finally made it to the college around 10.30. I have 4 lovely housemates:
Clarissa: The Mexican dancer who is the other avocado lover
Laura: The tall, beautiful, and incredibly talented Canadian who has the voice of an angel
Priska: The adorable, pink loving Indonesian songwriter
Sarah: My gorgeous roommate =)

We live in a very nice stucco townhouse in a gated community with access to a pool, gym and sauna. We are about a 25 minutes walk from college... which feels super long when it's hot... and super sunny...

Well, I am loving it so far, BUT we've got 2 weeks until school starts! Now I need to find something to fill up my time!
Any ideas?
Love you all, have a lovely night!

Kristina
So, after an emotional goodbye with my family, I checked into the Minneapolis airport, to find out that my flight to Chicago was changed due to bad weather... Awesome!! They changed my flight to Denver, where Clarissa was flying in... We met up, had a great time chatting...
BUT we find out that our Denver to LA flight was delayed... By 3 HOURS!!!
Which brings us to LA at 9.59... our flight to Sydney leaves at 10.13. We've got 14 minutes to make the connection.
Please pray that:
1. We are not delayed even longer
2. We can make our connection in LA
3. We continue to trust and rely on God to get us through this
4. We keep a good sense of humour

Here I am... saying my final goodbyes...
Spending as much time with my family as possible...
Finishing packing...
As of right now, I'm not too terrified... I know I'm going to miss everyone... but I'm doing God's will! And nothing... NOTHING feels better than doing what God wants.
Well, farewell Minnesota... Farewell FBC... I'll see you soon...
11 monthes and counting... Starting today!
Love you all!
